Women’s economic empowerment

The W20 carries women’s economic issues into the G20. We cover its asks on work, entrepreneurship, finance, health and safety, and what they mean for employers.

Is your company solving this? Put it in front of the ministers and government officials, delegations, embassies, CEOs and NGOs working on it. See where your company fits →

Why it matters

The G20 committed in Brisbane in 2014 to narrow the gap between men’s and women’s labor-force participation, and the W20 has pressed every presidency since to go further. Its recommendations cover care work, access to finance for women entrepreneurs, women’s health and safety online.

For companies, these issues show up in benefits design, pay transparency, supplier diversity and the retention of experienced staff. The G20 EMPOWER alliance brings business leaders and governments together to advance women into leadership.

On the summit agenda

Work and care

Childcare, eldercare and policies that keep women in the workforce.

Finance for women entrepreneurs

Closing the credit gap for women-owned businesses.

Women’s health

The economic case for investing in women’s health.

Safety online

Treating technology-facilitated abuse and deepfakes as serious harms.
